Best Practices For Teletherapy
Discover the best practices for effective teletherapy sessions. Learn how to create a comfortable and secure environment for online therapy sessions.

Create a Comfortable, Private Space
Choose a quiet, private location for your sessions where you feel safe and won’t be interrupted A comfortable, distraction-free environment helps you fully engage in the therapeutic process. We suggest keeping tissues, a blanket, or other comforting items within reach.

Be Prepared and Present
Treat your teletherapy session like an in-person appointment. Have any materials (e.g., journal, water) ready beforehand, and log in a few minutes early to settle in. Being mentally and emotionally present allows you to make the most of your time. Ensure your device is charged (or have a charger nearby). If possible, stay close to your Wi-Fi router for a stable connection.

Communicate Openly with Your Therapist
If technical issues arise or something feels unclear, let your therapist know. Open communication ensures your needs are met and helps your therapist tailor the session to support you effectively. Please build in an extra 10 mins to transition to your next task after your session.
